The annual event is held to raise funds for a Bursary to honour the memory of Justin Crosby for his outstanding legal service to the Sunshine Coast community. The Bursary is open to all first-year Commonwealth supported students enrolled either full-time or part-time at the University of the Sunshine Coast Bachelor of Laws Program.
The 2022 recipient of the Bursary, spoke about her journey; coming from a rural area, her battle with mental health, studying law and the impact that the Bursary has had on her studies so far.
On the night, Barrister Ross McSwan, was announced as the newest life member of the Sunshine Coast Law Association. Ross has been a pillar of our community for many years and an incredible asset to our Sunshine Coast Legal Fraternity.
On early calculations, it is estimated that the event has raised over $20,000 for the bursary fund. SCLA President, Jessica Popple said this could not have happened without the sponsors of the night, Pippa Colman & Associates, Toomey Family Law, Queensland Law Society, Sunshine Coast Barristers Chambers, Accord Mediation and Travis Schultz & Partners, as well as Vincents sponsoring the major raffle and Axia Litigation Lawyers for sponsoring Heads and Tails fundraiser activity.
A Bond themed night would not be complete without a special drink (shaken, not stirred), kudos to Sunshine & Sons for their contribution as the pre-dinner drinks partner!
