Over 220 members of the Queensland legal fraternity raised $35,316 for rescue service RACQ LifeFlight Rescue at a wine dinner held at The Calile Hotel Brisbane.
The record-breaking donations go towards fulfilling LifeFlight’s mission to save lives and serve the community for generations to come. Now in its third year, the annual fundraising event offered an opportunity to connect with industry colleagues over a three-course meal paired with a premium selection of wines from an esteemed Australian winery, Hugh Hamilton Wines.
Guests enjoyed a Q&A and guided wine pairings with 6th generation Winemaker Mary Hamilton, followed by a captivating talk from our guest speaker and past Lifeflight patient, Nick Hayes and even a stage appearance from Cricket legends Jimmy Maher and Andy Bichel! Before long, we launched into a lively auction showcasing some incredibly generous inclusions from our sponsors, including a luxury trip to the Maldives, VIP tickets to P!nk and the Foo Fighters, seats to a live match in the QLD Cricketers Club and more.

RACQ LifeFlight
RACQ LifeFlight Rescue is Queensland’s leading community helicopter rescue service. Since our first mission from a base at the Big Cow in 1979, we have saved over 74,000 lives and continue to be there for Queenslanders across the state. The 2022-23 financial year alone saw a record of 7,349 people helped by the service’s rescue helicopters, air ambulance jets, critical care doctors, flight nurses, and paramedics. LifeFlight says this year’s event funds raised are allocated to the purchase of safety equipment to assist the crews in completing offshore search and rescue missions – with one of the ‘big ticket’ items being a new seven-person life raft.
“This project is an important one, to make sure our crews are rescue ready for any mission. Being Queenslanders, we are fortunate the ocean is very much part of our everyday lives. However, it means many of our missions are off the coastline. It’s extremely important to act quickly in those first minutes a call is made to our RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crews.”
Alisha Clarkson, LifeFlight
TSP is dedicated to raising awareness of this unparalleled rescue service, having acted on behalf of critically injured clients who have benefited from the LifeFlight service. TSP Managing Partner, Travis Schultz, said the Brisbane event is a way to bring together the legal profession to network, enjoy fine wines and to support a charitable cause that needs the community’s help.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received from the professional community. Due to COVID-19, the event had to be somewhat restricted in size and scale in recent years, but 2023 brings an opportunity to upscale the event and make it one that is truly memorable and best in class,”
