The fifth annual Law & Wine Dinner hosted by compensation law firm Travis Schultz & Partners (TSP) last night raised over $70,000 for LifeFlight.
The sold-out event, which took place at the W Hotel in Brisbane, saw over 350 members of the Brisbane legal community unite to raise funds for LifeFlight’s critical community services. This year an inspiring welcome speech was delivered by the Honourable Jarrod Bleijie, Deputy Premier of Queensland, who kicked off the event’s Olympic and Paralympic theme discussing preparations for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
A highlight of the evening was a panel discussion chaired by legendary sports journalist Pat Welsh with gold medal-winning Paralympians Alexa Leary OAM and Callum Simpson OAM. The engaging conversation delved into the pair’s swimming successes and Ms Leary’s first-hand experience with LifeFlight’s life-saving work.
Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner with wine and expert pairings from winemaker Mark Weldon of New Zealand-based winery, Terra Sancta. Mr Weldon shared his insights on the award-winning pairings throughout the evening.
The fundraising efforts were boosted by a live auction led by Peter Burgin from Ray White. A range of exciting prizes were bid on, including luxury getaways, a curated wine collection and a personal chef experience, thanks to a host of generous sponsors.
Mike Stewart, Deputy Chairman of the LifeFlight Foundation, said; “We’re incredibly grateful for events like Law & Wine for LifeFlight, proudly hosted by Travis Schultz & Partners, which bring people together to make a real difference in the lives of Queenslanders. The funds raised from the night will help us purchase vital medical training mannequins for our aeromedical bases – equipment that enables our doctors, nurses, and paramedics to train for real-life emergencies and continue delivering world-class care. Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who joined us on the evening, our crews will be even better prepared to save lives right across the state.”
Travis Schultz, Managing Partner at TSP, commented: “LifeFlight is a charity that is remarkably close to my heart. I am beyond grateful to the Brisbane legal community for their generosity in raising a record amount of funds this year for this crucial cause. I’m proud to see the camaraderie and commitment to giving back that exists in this profession. Thank you for the ongoing support.”
