James Leggo

James Leggo

Associate Lawyer

James is a passionate and dedicated lawyer who is driven to helping people during their most challenging and vulnerable times.

With a passion for social justice and a steadfast determination to match, James graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from QUT in 2016 at the top of his class and with First Class Honours. For his efforts, James was awarded the KG Copp Memorial Prize for being the student who achieved the highest grades throughout the course. James then went on to complete a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at QUT before relocating to the Northern Territory where he was admitted to the Supreme Court.

It was in the Great North where James cut his teeth in the law and gained invaluable experience in civil and commercial litigation and various criminal defence matters. During this time, James also took the opportunity to volunteer at the Darwin Community Legal Service each week, providing pro bono legal advice to many in the community. James now has four years post admission experience, including three years working as a solicitor in Townsville.

A personable and devoted worker for his clients, James holds a strong view that the law is a profession rather than a business. His passion for social justice has led him to specialise in the fields of personal injury and worker’s compensation law.

James derives purpose from using his legal expertise to make a positive difference to the lives of those in need. He enjoys listening to people’s stories and building a personal connection with clients in order to serve them to the fullest of his ability.

When James isn’t working hard for his clients he’s looking up at the stars with a keen interest in astronomy, which he enjoys pairing with travel, cycling and hiking.
